W e offer Basic Ericksonian Hypnotherapy training and HypnoBirthing training for practitioners. We are registered with the American Board of Hypnotherapy as a teaching institute. Pat Burrell, director of The Mind-Body-Spirit Institute, is an executive board member of the HypnoBirthing Institute as well as a certified HypnoBirthing instructor.

Basic Ericksonian Hypnotherapy Certification:

T his is a 44 hour course which will give you the basic training and certification to become a practicing hypnotherapist. You will receive all course materials, training and certification through the American Board of Hypnotherapy ; eligibility for membership in the National Guild of Hypnotists ; and access to professional journals, unlimited specialized training, continuing support, professional liability insurance, and internships. HypnoBirthing Practitioner Certification:

T his course will train you to be a certified HypnoBirthing practitioner. The four day course will give you the basic HypnoBirthing instruction, plus the role HypnoBirthing plays in the physiology of pregnancy and childbirth. This is the only course in which you will get this valuable information, plus how to help Mom and Baby with breastfeeding. You will learn:

• Everything you need to know to teach safer, easier and more comfortable birthing
• To explode the myth that pain is a necessary accompaniment to labor
• What's wrong with labor as it exists with most other childbirth methods
• To teach the techniques of deep relaxation to eliminate the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome
• How a woman's body is naturally designed to conceive, nurture and labor her babies with ease and comfort
• How to create the body's own natural epidural, the only safe labor enhancement
• Natural ways of bringing the body into labor without artificial chemical induction
• How to teach couples to create a birthing environment that is calm, serene and joyful, not tense and stressful
• Gentle birthing techniques that teach a woman to breathe her baby into the world without the violence of hard physical pushing
• To teach the birthing companion his or her integral role in assuring a safe, serene and comfortable birthing for mother and baby

Fees charged by HypnoBirthing practitioners across the country range from $100.00 - $575.00 per couple. Most insurance plans with maternity benefits cover HypnoBirthing as a childbirth education method.

The certification workshop includes a video of five HypnoBirthing labors; 2 audio cassettes; a 45-page syllabus with scripts and class outlines; 3 posters; miscellaneous forms and handouts; and your copy of the textbook. The course qualifies for 15.6 Nursing CEU contact hours. Prerequisite: Basic Hypnotherapy certification, or Special, 2-Day Introduction to Hypnosis for Birthing (offered the two days immediately preceding the HypnoBirthing course).
